La Verne Visits Downtown Pomona

Last evening La Verne's Bonita High School Jazz Ensemble performed "A Salute To Big Bands" at the FOX Theatre in downtown Pomona. The kids were a hit! The dinner show took the audience back in time to the 30's and 40's when Benny Go0dman, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, and Glen Miller (to name a few) were some of the best best big band performers around. Directed by Jeff Bird, the kids performed at a level far beyond their years.

It was a grand opportunity for Pomona to show off the downtown and the FOX. Some 300 people attended, many visiting downtown Pomona and the FOX Theatre for the first time. The venue was a perfect fit for visitors and performers alike.
