Fire Fighters 181 Demonstrate

Engine Company 181 came to downtown to show residents, merchants, and property owners their quick response and rescue unit. The over 100 degree temperatures didn't slow them down. As though this were the "real deal" they positioned their engines, deployed ladders and assaulted the roof to test for weak spots and even simulated cutting through the roof to vent the building. A critical piece of equipment, a $12,000 heat seeking camera was shown to the crowd. In a real fire, firefighters would crawl along the floor with flames and smoke all around them and search for body heat signatures with the camera. Number one priority is to save lives, structures second. Thanks 181 for taking the time to show us around.
