Would You Care To Dance?

The DPOA is always on the lookout for events that will draw people to the downtown, so when such an event was suggested to me, my antennae wiggled and stood at attention for a minute. As you all know TVs "Dancing with the Stars" is an immense hit, so, it was suggested, (by a longtime watcher of Pomona doings) that we put on our own version of the show right here in downtown Pomona, probably in Thomas Plaza during the summertime when the evenings are warmer and longer.

At first blush the the idea has merit, but when you think about it for awhile it gets a bit involved. We would need professional dance instructors for one thing, maybe Arthur Murray Studios, it was suggested. We can't "steal" the name Dancing with the Stars, besides Pomona doesn't have that many "stars" that I'm aware of . What should we call the contest?, P-Town Twirlers? Who would be the contestants?, maybe key politicos? Yes, but would they draw a crowd? Do we need "experienced" judges, or should the public vote? Not sure how all this would work exactly.
